Gallery UrsulaStross presents a new exhibition “Expressive Figures” which features artists Diana Deu, Emmerich Weissenberger, Florian Hirzinger, Roberto Del Rio. Each artist offers their unique vision of human presence delineation in an expressive manner. Official opening reception will take place on the 28th of November at 6:30 pm with artists’ statements and will last until the 29th of December 2019.
The moment a visitor enters the gallery they are picked by the speed of the expressive racers depiction by Diana Deu, artist who reflects on her childhood memories of the glory days of racing. Some steps further and you are carried away to the Andy Warhol’s Factory in the 1960s through a reference work “Alaska”. Next, visitors immerse into the fascinating world of Roberto Del Rio which combines Mexican mythology, symbolism and geometry inspired by Picasso’s analytic cubism art movement. Persuasively gallery offers Florian Hirzinger’s philosophy of meticulousness in a form of photography series representing paint splashes on the hardware store floor. Eventually the perception of the whole exhibition is culminated in works of Emmerich Weissenberger. Artist creates a vibrant atmosphere through his works where visitors can enjoy the expressive lines of pastel colored paintings and charcoal figure drawings. Leaving the exhibition you find yourself hidden behind a folding screen made from oiled paper and framed in ebony wood where Weissenberger translates the magic symbolism of universal language.
